Drugs & Alcohol: Risk, Education & Prevention
Thank you to all who attended the evening presentation on Tuesday, February 9, which featured SMA parent Doug Lyons, a certified drug and alcohol counselor with more than 25 years of experience in the field. His dynamic presentation was well received by the students during an all-school assembly earlier in the day, and I heard many of you comment on how valuable and timely his information was during the evening session. Doug spent 16 years at the Hazelton/Betty Ford Center, seven of which he was the Clinical Director. He has graciously offered to share his PowerPoint presentation with us. While the slides won’t capture Doug’s humor and extensive knowledge, they might be a good recap of some of the main points. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested.
Our café staff has worked hard to improve their offerings, and we now have breakfast sandwiches made from real eggs and cheddar cheese, and many healthy salads and main dishes for lunch. A $20 café card costs only $19.00, and each used card will be entered into a monthly drawing for a free $20 café card. Eating lunch upstairs is also a great way to make friends and build community, so encourage your daughter to give the café a try!
Spring Break will be here before we know it. This year students will have an extended break with Easter Monday and Teacher In-Service on Tuesday. Have a Blessed Easter.
Spring Break: March 21-25
Easter Monday: March 28
